Would be a beautiful thing to qualify @ home against Croatia.
Anyone remember when the WC groups/locations are announced? Personally, I'm thinking of just booking in Cape Town. Ideas? I know its counting the eggs and all that. But it only gets more expensive.

@David: Yes, everything in the post relates to us winning the group. Obviously that's the only way to definitely qualify. And yeah, I agree that it's a big thing for England to not even be thinking about second place right now.

@Seth: That sounds excellent. If I manage to get there then I'd love to get involved with a WCB gathering. Cheers.

Agree that we will know more before England have to play again.

Did you work out what we need to WIN the group as opposed to making it into the 2nd place playoff? But it is a tribute to Capello that I am not really worrying about it. :)

@Seth: hopefully, but no tickets booked yet or anything. How about you?

@David: looks like you're right. I completely ignored Belarus, but in many ways they're in a better situation that Croatia or Ukraine. Good spot.

We'll know more after they play Croatia home and away (Aug 12 and Sep 5th). And then they play Ukraine at home (Sep 9th).

But surely Belarus can technically still qualify too? 5 matches played, 9 points - they could go to second with a win.

Daryl, thanks for the breaking down of the situation. I am almost on the verge of knocking myself out trying to figure out the current situation in the qualifying group.

My only concern is that before the Croatia match at the Wembley, there will be two friendlies for England. Away in Holland in August, then one against Slovenia which will come four days before the match against Croatia.

Other than that, I will only start to celebrate the moment England is mathematically qualified.
