Glen Johnson or Wes Brown at Right Back vs Croatia?
Latest news is that Rio Ferdinand is fit* to play against Croatia. That means a Terry-Ferdinand partnership in front of David James with Ashley Cole at left back. So the only question remaining back there is: who plays right back.
The extra attacking threat of Glen Johnson or the more experienced but less mobile Wes Brown? It’s basically the Walcott or Beckham debate but half a pitch deeper.
I’ve had a lot of coffee today so I’m feeling optimistic. I’d be happy to see Johnson there, especially if we’re going with 4-5-1. We’ll need the width. Also, Brown might have plenty Champions League etc experience, but he’s hardly an international veteran.
Maybe not the most glamorous debate, but it’s hella important. Especially when you remember that our right back got his name on the scoresheet last time we came to Zagreb…
*and did you know telext had a website now? that was news to me

Chelsea have two attacking wide men in Bosingwa and Cole, while Portugal have two attacking defenders in Bosingwa and Pepe. Last time I checked, those teams are pretty good, aren’t they?
For me, England need to step up their aggression and throw some form of caution to the wind at this point for a home run to win back some semblance of faith from the supporters. Go balls to the wall and let Croatia deal with YOU, not the other way around.

Its Glen Johnson time.
