David Beckham’s New World Cup 2010 Role

david-beckham-suit (1)Bit of good news for David Beckham. He will be going to South Africa with the England squad. Just not as a player. According to The Guardian, Fabio Capello will offer Becks the chance to join up as a non-playing member of the squad. I’d like to think that this offer is being made because Beckham is an experienced international and a good role model and so will be a positive influence on the squad. But it’s equally likely that Beckham’s role in South Africa will have as much to do with PR and lobbying on behalf of England’s World Cup 2018 bid.

The other good news for both Beckham and Beckham fans is that the man’s career is not over. Here’s what Dr. Orava had to say after performing the operation to repair Beckham’s tendon.

“The operation went smoothly and nicely. I don’t think there’s any chance for the World Cup as healing takes a long time. But, usually, a player will recover fully. It’s a total tear of the tendon. If there is any weakness then a graft can be taken from the calf and put over the injury site to make it stronger. This kind of procedure is planned.

“Top athletes usually heal well but it’s a few months until you are back at the same level as you were before. It will take three to four months before one is able to do light playing again and maybe another month more to kick and jump at his best. Today we allow patients to do motion earlier than before. In this case we try to get motion back as soon as possible.

“Over that first month you shift from light training to harder training in the second month. After that one is usually able to walk and maybe start running lightly. All this depends upon the type of tear. But I don’t think it is a big difference to be aged 25 or 35. It will be three, four, five months. Most of these patients come back at the same level, even in a top soccer player.”

Also, Beckham has no intention of retiring, so after we see him hobbling around South Africa doing some FA-encouraged glad-handing this June and July, we’ll more than likely see him back playing for Los Angeles Galaxy in Major League Soccer later in the year.

This is the worst time to get an injury. Feel so sorry for him.

like to leave message to get to David Beckham. I specialise in Achilles tendon problems and have had great success over the years with his latest injury. I can speed up the treatment and avoid long term tendon shortening with a unique low level laser therapy.
If knows how to contact him please pass on this message and my website; http://www.sportinjury-therapist.com and get him to contact me and I will promise to help him or no charge ! cant say farer than that.

Gotta feel sorry for Becks, I agree and I’ve always been a big fan but I can’t help thinking if he goes, he’ll just be a major distraction.

Not sure what it says about the other guys either… do they really need him to hold their hands?

Better he goes as part of our 2018 bid and stays away from the actual squad. He could do some good diplomatic work in the background and also pop up as a TV pundit.

When will you lot realise that Beckham as a player was grossly over-rated, ridiculously over-hyped, and obscenely overpaid. His so called skills were limited. He was in the right place at the right time, whilst better, genuine talent was missed. Sending him on a freebee as an advisor,do me a favour. He’d be as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike. As for your World Cup chances-ZERO. Knocked out in the group stages hopefully.Bye bye Beckham and England and good riddance.
