Ashley Cole is probably the opitamy of what is wrong with English football - he thinks it is all about him. He probably doesn't even want to play for England cos he doesn't get paid for it. He's an obnoxious, evil little man who bowls through life expecting everyone to pour praise on his every move and that he deserves so much more than he's already got (take the Cheryl Cole incident for instance - why go out and look to take more when you should be happily married to a beautiful, talented woman, you c**k!). So when it IS all about him (being booed for a mistake - that is clearly his, niyi - by the crowd while playing on the national squad) he should be big enough to step-up and take the criticism, not call in sick the next day with a note from his mum. What a loser!

International footballers are role models and should act that way. They represent - that is, stand for, the whole nation. The notion that Ashley Cole represents me makes me sick to my stomach. The only problem with the England fans booing of Cole is that it didn't last for the entire duration of the match.

niyi - maybe thats because he would have expected a bit of common sense and for him to clear it

CSD - He should know that what he did was bad, and should expect it, and if he's a great player, it'll fire him up to fix it.

As for who would play instead *has horrible flashbacks to Wayne Bridge's performance against Croatia*

Ashley Cole is the best Left Back we've got, but he still gifted a goal to other side.

I think supporters should act like supporters. Those booing don't understand the psychological impact of what they do. A noise from the crowd is like a shotgun blast aimed at one person that impacts those around him as well. If you want to ridicule the guy, do it in the papers or on a blog. Then you're sniping.

Thats the best left back in England, one of the best in the world.
I guess some of the blame should go to the other defenders specifically Rio who stood flat footed while his fellow defender was on the ball.
Fans could be stupid at times.
