McClaren Taking England Squad Out To Dinner

October 27th, 2006 | By: Daryl | 1 Comment »

According to The Independent, Stevie Mac is having informal dinner meetings with all the England players to discuss what went wrong against Croatia (and Macedonia), and what they’re going to do next.

The meetings are a new thing under Steve, and maybe not a bad idea provided he maintains authority and doesn’t let bossy boots like Gary Neville tell him who to pick and how to play.

Most worrying is this snippet from the article:

In the immediate aftermath of the defeat to Croatia, he had only a few minutes with the players before having to fulfil media commitments and has not had a chance for a full debrief.

Who has set up McLaren’s schedule so that it doesn’t leave him enough time to talk to his players after a game?

They did a movie on Zidane, how about one for England, “Guess who’s coming to dinner”; er, just not too many cheeseburgers for a few of the crewe.
