Beckham to Miss World Cup?

The irony of this is that Beckham came to Milan in order to secure a spot in the England NT. And now it looks like that won’t be the case. Which is a shame because aside from everyone else on England, I actually like Beckham. And this would’ve been his las World Cup.

A distressing end to a football icon’s dream no doubt, but in retrospect, probably a blessing in disguise. His inclusion in the squad was always in question after the first leg in Milan, and injury was the only way for the footballing gods to end his international career with dignity.

Capello is now free to pick his best squad, which will be free of the pressures of “play Beckham”, and the man himself can feel that he hasn’t suffered a humiliating exclusion.

I am a huge Beckham fan but I think it might be the right moment to call time on a career that ended in two of the greatest stadiums in the world – Old Trafford and the San Siro.

If the Galaxy will allow him to….

a huge loss for england’s world cup chances. the beckham haters will disagree but the fact is he adds a lot to the team. mostly with leadership and class off the pitch these days but still had a role to play delivering the ball from the right. lennon on form (very rare) is amazing but swp and walbott dont come close to becks. this is a blow to england’s world cup aspirations.
