1) I think I would have started this qualifying campaign with Rob Green - I do think he's the best option - to ease him in so he's not too nervous before 2010 (assuming we make it - which I am at the moment, what a difference from 12 months ago), Fabio seems content to get James to see us through to 2010 and start again after (he seems to love Joe Hart) which is fine if James can hold steady untill then.

2) For ages I thought we should just go with five at the back, and just have wingbacks covering the wide area - goodness knows Ashley Cole gets forward enough. I think that at the moment having Joe Cole and Ashley Young out there isn't bad really - although Fabio doesn't seem a big fan of either.
Not convinced about Gerrard left, because he still wants to hit it with his right foot all the time. He'd probably end up doing what Deco has been doing for Chelsea this season and just neglecting his position.

3) On club form, Lescott, but he has looked a bit nervous for England. I always think Woodgate might be a good bet, but he's incredibly unreliable injury-wise. Upson I think is good, but I'm not convinced he's stepped up to England class just yet, perhaps a run in the side (should, heaven forbid, Terry or Rio get injured long term) would fix that though.

Rob,

I've got three questions, mostly because these are things I don't know the answer too either.

1. What should we do about goalkeepers? Stick with James until 2010 or try and get someone like Rob Green some experience over the next 15 months?

2. The old left side of midfield problem: Joe Cole, Stewart Downing or Ashley Young? Or, as Capello has tried at least once - Steven Gerrard?

3. Who's our third choice centre back after Ferdinand and Terry? Upson or Lescott? And is it a bad thing that those are our options?
