England Has Actually Won Four World Cups…

… at least according to US based comedian turned talk show host George Lopez:

I’m not sure, which is more disturbing: That George Lopez just destroyed the stereotype of Mexican-Americans all being huge soccer fans, or that David Beckham – Lopez’ guest on Lopez Tonight – didn’t correct his mistake.

Wasn’t just a slip of the tongue from Lopez either, as the phrase “three-time world cup winner David Beckham” is repeated on the TBS Lope Tonight blog. Seems that one of two things has happened. Either a) There’s been some confusion about Beckham appearing in (as opposed to actually winning) three World Cups, or b) Beckham has been telling some porky pies to the Lopez Tonight researchers. Because who wants to be introduced as “one time MLS Cup-runner up David Beckham”?

I’ve never been to fond of either Beckham or Lopez. England always does well in the world cup, but everyone knows they have only won once. I enjoy watching England play, but Beckham really turns me away. His silly “retaliation” in the 1998 world cup. One can’t be a superstar on and off the pitch either, he needs to choose. I’ll be happy when he retires.

Anyone still calling for owen to be picked up for the WC should stop doing so after his abject performance against fulham. Bobby Zamora is clearly a better player.
For the goalkeeping position steve harper and lee camp(n. forest) are in outstanding form compared to robert green (see error against bolton),paul robinson, the ever-injured david james and the overlooked joe hart and kris kirkland.Harper in particular should be given a chance in the forthcoming friendly after another clean sheet against boro!!

I also hope that roger johnson and scott dann from birmingham get the chance they deserve after another impressive display on sunday!
