England Lineup vs France: Beckham Starts, Walcott Waits, Lampard Nowhere to be Seen

March 26th, 2008 | By: Daryl | No Comments »

Lineups very recently announced. They look like this:

France: Coupet, Abidal, Gallas, Makelele, Malouda, Toulalan, Clerc, Thuram, Trezeguet, Ribery, Anelka. Subs: Landreau, Mexes, Cisse, Govou, Squillaci, Alou Diarra, Flamini, Evra.

England: James, Brown, Ferdinand, Terry, Ashley Cole, Beckham, Hargreaves, Barry, Joe Cole, Gerrard, Rooney. Subs: Robinson, Johnson, Lescott, Bridge, Bentley, Downing, Owen, Crouch, Walcott, Green.

England will play 4-2-3-1, with Hargreaves and Barry holding, Beckham the centurion wide right, Cole wide left and Gerrard playing behind Rooney. I don’t see much pace out there, but no complaints otherwise.

Walcott makes the bench, so we might get to see him later. Frank Lampard is nowhere to be seen, and word is that he’s got some sort of stomach problem. Maybe he feels sick because he hasn’t been picked?
