Mourinho rules himself out; Capello instantly morphs into the media’s favourite
Apologies for not posting – I’ve been moving back to Europe after a three-month stint volunteering in South America. And what’s happened while I’ve been away? Not much.
You might think Jose Mourinho’s decision to rule himself out for the England role is news, but it really isn’t. Mourinho never once said he wanted the job – he just hinted that he was interested, and the press – as well as fans who, like myself, dream of a Mourinho-lead England – went crazy.
Now, Mourinho is out. Fabio Capello, being the only person in the world who has publicly admitted to wanting the England job, is expected to be hired within the next few days. It’ll be a shame to miss out on Mourinho’s (alleged) vast manifesto for revolutionising English national football, but Capello is a bloody good manager and, seeing as he’s never really lost before, he might give us a very good chance of winning something come the next world cup. God knows the players are good enough.
