I was listing off all the things that I was glad we didn't qualify for, and worrying about English fans abroad and the deluge of rubbish songs were quite high on my list. By the opening ceremony today i was really excited for the tourny, and I am now really looking forward to seeing some great games.

I'm not an England fan per se, but here in India, they give you such an overdose of English soccer, that you tend to feel something for them. Either way, they didn't deserve to qualify one bit, and it's probably better off for English soccer (otherwise Steve McLaren would still be at the helm :P ) I'm supporting Spain!

Have you seen your fellow-west-midlands man Frank Skinner's blog on The Times? He basically says what you just said. But he also suggests we all find a team we can hate to make it easier.

Its funny, I was sort of looking forward to a tournament without us, but now the day is here, and it feels a little empty. I'm sure that'll change 5 minutes into the opener though.
