He was 18 and showed no fear and honestly looked like he could win us the whole damn tournament. And then he got a metatarsal injury in the quarterfinal vs Portugal and England reverted to being toothless again. I think Vassell came on for him, which says it all. Rooney had never looked anything like his 2204-self until the Croatia game, and I'm optimistic that Capello's insistence on playing him a support striker will mean more of the 2004 vintage.
