Please Don’t Let This Be the New England Strip

February 12th, 2009 | By: Daryl | 12 Comments »

As with all “leaked” pictures of new football kits, there’s always a chance that it’s pure fakery. And in this case I’ve got fingers and toes crossed that this isn’t the England kit for 2009-11, because it’s nasty.

And not nasty in the good way either (eg “Leo Messi has nasty skills”). Nasty like it makes me pull a frowny face when I look at it. Ugh.

There’s just too much red going on, especially surrounding the badge. And that makes it look cheap. Like when you go on holiday to Greece and buy a fake football shirt for 10 euros.

Which might be exactly what this. We can only hope.

Thats awful. Really bad. If they want a back to basics, just the badge, put it in the middle, alá Euro 96. I also don’t like the red. It should be blue trim, damn it!

I think part of the problem is having the Umbro logo right on top of the badge, which is just too crowded.

I don’t like the colour of the red, of the general design. But I think we should include more red in our home kits, it’s just so dull as it is. Our flag is predominantly white with moderate redness. Not plain white.

Whether this is official or fake, I’d prefer more red on our home strips.

Will the number be slightly to the left? or in the centre, do we think?

I thought the jerseys during the 2006 world cup were the best. Loved the St. George’s cross on the shoulder.

If they continued the red across the shoulder kinda like the Arsenal shirts it may be good…

I do like the idea of having red sleeves, in a reverse of the Arsenal shirt. But they would still need to sort that badge out. I think its the lines around the badge that are offputting.

I think it looks good. It has lots of red to complement the shining white.
Red, of course being the colour of England, not blue. ;)

The shirt is clearly fake – the logo thing on the kit is the mobile code thingy taken from Pepsi cans

That’s maybe a pre production shirt, but it’s no fake, believe me!
And it’s not too bad, seen (and bought) alot worse!
