James Corden Gives the Best England Team Talk. Ever.
Vid removed (shock!) but you can see it at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjHTM069qDM
It’s Red Nose Day in England (OK, Britain) where comedy and charity collide and the big names of the day happily make fools of themselves for Comic Relief in a big effort to raise money.
One of the big draws this year is James Corden (of Gavin & Stacy fame) giving a lecture to the England team.
In character as Smithy, Corden’s doing a bit of plumbing at a hotel. When he tries to find the toilets, he walks in on a room full of England players. He’s a little embarrassed at first, but it’s not long before he’s asking for a refund on his 2008 plane ticket to Austria, telling Crouchy to bring back the robot, JT to stop crying, and telling Frank Lampard to look up and pass to Steven Gerrard once in a while “because you are really good at football, and he is as good… if not a teensy bit better.”
Brilliant stuff, and credit to the England lads for being game enough to take a comedic grilling. Also, I hope they manage to solve that hangman puzzle. Looks like a tough one.
The clip premieres tonight as part of Comic Relief on the BBC, but don’t be surprised if the above YouTube video gets taken down. Rob at Off the Post had a different version of the clip up earlier, but it’s since been removed. (update: he’s fixed it now).
If that happens here, there’s also this short promo clip from Friday Night With Jonathan Ross to give you an idea:

Love the introduction of the John Barnes rap at the end. Becks finds it all hilarious clearly.
