England Captain Named Next Week

The friendly against Czech Republic is just over a week away (Wednesday, August 20 at Wem-ber-lee) and Fabio will name his squad on Saturday.

Rumours (or guesswork) have Darren Bent getting a recall, which seems fair enough as he’s looked like the best player in the world during Spurs pre-season, banging in about a thousand goals. Bent is still only 24, so I genuinely think this could be his season in an England shirt. It would be nice to have another option besides the usual variations Rooney, Owen and Crouch.

In other news, the new captain will be named the night before the game, so one week from today. I’ve given this some thought and decided that it really doesn’t matter who’s captain. It’s basically just an armband and some shouting.
