Can England Play Algeria Now Please?

England’s World Cup Group C opponents Algeria were in action vs Malawi in the Africa Cup of Nations today. As you can see above, it did not go well.

Algeria went into the game very much as favourites, but ended as 3-0 losers. Disastrous defending for the first goal. And the third. Malawi blogger Sscouser was understandably happy with the result. Algeria blogger Omar not so much.

Any chance we can play our 2010 World Cup game against Algeria tonight instead of in June? Because surely they can only get better from here.

Haha funny Daryl. As you allude to, the World Cup match is going to be an entirely different affair for sure. Algeria often play up or down to their opponents level (all North African teams actually) so this is not very indicative of what to expect in SA. Still don’t think Algeria will beat England anyways but they’ll have more fight. They also really missed their passionate and vocal supporters. That stadium was a ghost town. CAF and the local organizing committee are to blame for that. They’re really screwing up on a number of facets. It’s too bad because the football has been brilliant thus far.

yeah Algeria will definitely be more up for it, come the World Cup.

While I think Algeria will be more ready for the World Cup I can’t help shake the feeling that they are just going to be happy to be there.

  • Clement Kana

What ever you say about Algeria but you should not try to indicate that Algeria did not play the best of their games against Malawi. They were clearly confused and were far less convincing tactically. Malawi deserved the win against a determined Algeria because tactically, they were superior.Period!

  • http://tunisia.worldcupblog.org Rami

Clement Kana, Malawi definitely deserved to win. No one doubts that but you have to say that Algerian players looked completely out of it physically. They were struggling for breath in the heat and humidity that they aren’t used to. Most of their players play in Europe and they prepared in Europe too. Mistake by Saadane I think. With that said, Malawi were impressive.

“They were struggling for breath in the heat and humidity that they aren’t used to. Most of their players play in Europe and they prepared in Europe too. Mistake by Saadane I think” – Rami

Exactly! That’s why almost all African teams camped closer to Angola to acclimatize http://malawi.worldcupblog.org/team-news/malawi-flames-to-acclimatize.html

England, you are welcome to camp in Malawi. What about a friendly against Malawi?

stop talk about ALGERIA at lest we are in the world cup, what about canada i never hard about them in the world cup?

  • http://www.worldcupblog.org Daryl

ahmed, all the Canadian comments saying stupid things about Algeria was just one guy using different names. He’s a troll, just looking to start arguments where he can. His comments have been deleted.

we havemaybe lot the game agaisnt malawi, but a european team would never have accepted to play at that time at 2:45 pm under 40°c and 95% of humidity, and preparing them in europe was a good choice bcz if they had trained in such conditions during 1 mounth hey would have been totally out.

  • omarblougrana

u can see now what the algerian team cost after te winner with the ivory cost team in 1/4 final

  • karim betine

Algerian team is a nwe baby they been together only one year or less ,opposit at the other teams in Africa ,they done a great job after being out off football for 24 years because of conflicts in a country with a stupid terrorists, now we are back ,look in Algeria we dont like a routine and we love surprises and we see whats happend in a WC,is better if everyone think we are weak this is our strong mentality and after he comes the fans .

  • AK7*s^^^EGYPT

hahaa then u crashed in to Egypt 4-0 AND YOU ALL PLAYED DIRTY TO . HEY ENGLAND WE PLAY MARCH 3RD ITS GOING TO BE A GOOD GAME. WERE RANKED ONE AWAY FROM YOU COMMING DOWN TO THE TOP TEN. IT SHOULD BE A GOOD GAME.

  • habibball

The difference between Egyptien team and Algerian team is like a real team and a “PlayStation” team… At the end of the day, only the higher level teams will be in South Africa; and the last time I checked is that Egypt won’t be there! So hope Egypt will be good enough to make it to the 2014 WC -:)

As for Algeria-England, the best of the two is the one who will outplay the other on that day… so no need for you to play the game in your mind. The game will happen on the field in June…

Algeria will play North Ireland as we no Ireland is not too strong as England but it still play UK football with an italian coash that mean we’ve chosen a good opponent to prepare the WC. however England is to play Egypt (they think that it is the same kind of football but it is not the case ) we play european footnall and they play african one (with some stufs to make them win cups like buying referees and also doing non sport tricks including what happend to Algeria team ther in Cairo .
