Back in the Top Ten

We’ve clawed our way back into the top 10 of FIFA World Rankings. Hooray? No?

OK, maybe not the most spectacular achievement ever. And we’re really only joint 10th with Portugal, which also means we’re sort of joint 11th too. But still. Better than being 15th with Scotland breathing down our necks.

And further confirmation that the bad times are over and England are on the way back to respectability (fingers crossed, toes too).

Now we’re just waiting on the squad for Wednesdays game against Germany. Rumour has it that since Joe Hart and Gabi Agbonlahor were left out of Stuart Pearce’s recent U-21 squad, they’ll be getting a senior call-up. Darren Bent will surely be in that squad too. And who knows? Maybe we’ll see Ashley Young? Otherwise Fabio Capello can expect another picture of him in his pants on Villa Offside.

I’ll post the lucky 23 here once they’re named (Saturday night apparetly) and then try and do Fabio’s job for him by picking a team that 1) gives some new players a chance, but also 2) gives us a chance of beating the Germans.
