England to reveal new kit…on the pitch

March 2nd, 2009 | By: Rob | 3 Comments »

Instead of the usual, slightly naff press ceremonies where certain players look oddly uncomfortable, according to Setanta Sports, the first time anyone will see the new kit is when they’re sat at home on the telly, watching England take on Slovakia on March 28.
Lets just hope it isn’t that leaked one…
Its an interesting tactic, but [...]

Video Highlights: Belarus 1-3 England

October 15th, 2008 | By: Daryl | No Comments »

Very solid away performance from Fabio Capello’s new WAG-free England. The streaming video embedding attempt didn’t really work out (played for about 10 minutes then failed) but I’ve gone and found all four goals via TVGolo.com and dropped them for you below.

Ways to Watch Belarus vs England

October 15th, 2008 | By: Daryl | 1 Comment »

It’s becoming increasingly clear that England’s away qualifiers are going to be a pain in the arse to watch on television. If you’re in the UK, it’s annoying but straightforward. You have to watch it on Setanta Sports.
If you’re in the US it’s even more complicated. You need Setanta Premium. How do you get Setanta [...]

Less Roy of the Rovers for Steven Gerrard

October 14th, 2008 | By: Daryl | No Comments »

I know he only mentioned it as an aside, but I think Steven Gerrard has hit the nail on the head as to why he’s not performing for England.
Basically, he’s always trying to be the man, to be Roy of the Rovers. But in international football, where possession is everything, being Roy of the Rovers [...]

England Now Fourth Favourites to Win World Cup 2010

October 14th, 2008 | By: Daryl | No Comments »

No, seriously. I just posted the latest odds on World Cup 2010 winner from Paddy Power over Bet Offside and England are fourth favourites (behind Brazil, Argentina and Spain) to win World Cup 2010 at 8-1.
What does this tell us? Basically that people are getting carried away again. Seems whenever England put a half decent [...]

Ashley Cole – “Boo?”

October 13th, 2008 | By: Daryl | 6 Comments »

Should England fans have booed Ashley Cole for this cock-up?

It was pretty bad, no doubt about it. But I think if it had been any other player, there would have been a lot more sympathy. Ashley Cole has just built up so much bad will (Cashley etcetera) that he has no room for error.

England 5-1 Kazakhstan

October 11th, 2008 | By: Daryl | 5 Comments »

The scoreline makes it look a lot better than it really was. According to my TV screen England lined up in a 4-3-3 like this:
– — – — – James — – — – –
Brown -Ferdinand – Upson – A Cole
– Gerrard – Lampard -Barry –
Walcott — Heskey — Rooney
But in reality it was Rooney [...]

England vs Kazakhstan Preview/Prediction

October 10th, 2008 | By: Daryl | 2 Comments »

It’s looking increasingly possible that Capello is going to – NOOOOOO!!! – give Gerrard and Lampard one more go together in central midfield.
Seriously.
The thinking seems to be that if they can’t do it against Kazakhstan then they can’t do it against anyone. I’m sick of arguing about this, and am going to give in [...]

No JT? No Worries (But Only Cus It’s Kazakhstan)

October 9th, 2008 | By: Daryl | No Comments »

Looks like we’ll be without John Terry for Saturday’s game against Kazakhstan at Wembley. Seems Rio Ferdinand has been lined up to do armband duties (as he should have been in the first place if you ask me) and that his partner in central defence will be either Wes Brown, Joleon Lescott or Matty Upson.
Nothing [...]
