Whither Rio?

Sven is hinting that he might try Rio Ferdinand in the midfield.

This is madness. Sol’s not nearly certain, for starters, and Rio has been a semi-disaster as a mid when he’s played there for Man U.

For that matter, Rio might not even be mentally fit for Germany. Play armchair Freud, if you care to, with quotes like “I don’t want to go another season without winning something with United. That would do my head in.”

Or with this revelation: “Ferdinand had to be consoled by team-mates when he burst into tears immediately after that shoot-out defeat to the Gunners.”

Is John Terry the only physically fit center back in England who’s not completely mental?
