The Unsung Hero in the Back

June 1st, 2006 | By: Shawn | 2 Comments »

I’ve been saying since this blog started that there was one man whom England could absolutely not afford to lose and that man was John Terry.

Nice story in The Mirror today about his efforts to become a more frequent target for David Beckham’s free kicks, corners and crosses.

Frankly, I think Terry could come out of this tournament as England’s best player and logical next captain. So it makes sense, in my view, that Beckham would, in effect, hand him the armband via one of those sublime assists.

Yeah shawn, I wonder with the experiences gain in this year tournament, i would like to see wether Terry or Gerard will become the next skeeper. Both of them are more capable in term of leadership. Maybe next World Cup.

I like the idea of a center back as captain simply because it’s the sort of position where you can lead by the example of sacrificing your body for the good of the team. But Gerrard has certainly earned consideration, I agree.
