I’ve gotta work today, so I’m TIVO-ing the UEFA Cup final. But when I watch it this evening, I’ll be looking far more at Stewart Downing than Steve McClaren. The midfielder who was something of a surprise on Sven’s squad looks to have rebounded nicely from five months away with injuries. Sevilla in a big cup match should be a good forum in which he can prove his merit.
