The Day After: Brief Notes
1) David Beckham has resigned his captaincy…which effectively ended when he walked off the pitch on Saturday.
2) FIFA has begun the requisite inquiry into Wayne Rooney’s red card.
3) Cristiano Ronaldo declares that he was not the instigator of Rooney’s sending-off.
4) Steven Gerrard insists that the squad
don’t blame Rooney for the result.

What’s going to happen to C. Ronaldo?
Will they let him back in England?
He already said he wanted to sign with Real Madrid. He scored the winning goal, and the media will blame him for the red card.
The guy will be a marked man…I bet he’s gone in three weeks.

John Terry for captain! Becks is great, but it’s his time to step down. However solid a player, he doesn’t have the leadership qualities necessary for a captain. I don’t think it’s wrong that he was given captainship in the first place — he is a very good player who excells at creating goal scoring opportunities for England.

Poor England, we wanted them to win! (only after the Aussies unfairly lost, that is!) Becks is finished so who will be the next captain? Gerrard would be great, he is an extremaly fair player who has showed us great leadership skills thought his time captaining Liverpool. Gerrard for captain! That’s what we say. and watch out next world cup Australia are gonig to win! PS it’s Clare’s birthday! Yey!

Very sad David B has stepped down. Thought he did a great job, not favourite with a lot of people but his calm presence was noted. Re: rooney incident, don’t think it happened they way it has been portrayed, if you had your ‘private parts’ stamped on you would be in agony for hours and feel physically sick just wanting to sit on a bucket of ice (so I am told by the men in my life) the Portugal play got up and started playing immediately Rooney was shown the red card. Come on guys be real if it happened he would have felt the pain, tell me I know nothing I’m just being a girl but have you all been having us on doesn’t it hurt when you get stamped on there? Me thinks someone is telling porkie pies.

i think david beckham has really excelled himself with his decision and the emotions he showed while doing it. he showedd how much it meant to him but he showed that hes not stupid and that he realised his international career is soon to end so he wants what’s best for the team.
i dont think its fair that so many people were on his back recently tho, 2 assists and a goal in the tournament, thats quite impressive especially considering he was throwing up in the game he scored!
as for cristiano ronaldo i think hell get a hostile reception but as a utd fan i hope hell rise to it

See ya becks. take your alligator tears with you. I can’t be the only one who thinks that injury was totally fake. Just the game before he was puking up and down the pitch with exhaustion. then 6 mins. into the second half he all the sudden gets a injury (which no reliable news source can pin down to a knee ankle achilles etc.) caome on he quit. the most overrated player in football. the most overrated team in football.

Hey “mates”. Did you guys make it home Ok???? must’ve been horrible knowing that the most over-rated players in the world didn’t make it to the Semi’s huh? awww poor babies.
You know what I think. I think that Cristiano Ronaldo Paid the Referee to give Rooney a RED CARd.
YEp Cristiano Ronaldo and CARAVALHO planned this whole thing. CARAVALHO made sure that Rooney STEPPED on his CROTCH so that RONALDO could RUN to the Referee and demand a Red Card.
And then and Then he somehow TOLD ROONEY to PUSH HIM RIGHT in FRONT of the REFEREE so that the ref will have a reason TO give him a red CARD! OMGGGG
Cristiano Ronaldo is not only Gorgeous. he is also a GOD.
