That Foot Again!
Turns out Wayne Rooney’s foot healed so quickly because it wasn’t the normal sort of metatarsal break: “Rooney’s break was at the base of the fourth metatarsal bone and under the surface of another small bone, called the lateral cuneiform bone. The fracture was located on the spongy cancellous bone at the base of the metatarsal and this heals three times quicker than the hard bone in the metatarsal shaft. Also, it was not a stress fracture, which take longer to heal.”
Well, if they’d've told me that at the outset I would’ve known the lad would rebound!

queen of all of my 2006WC conspiracy theories is that his foot was never broken. someone else’s x-ray and it was all a scam. like, who’s to know right??!!
I grew up with rugby, so naturally I don’t have much sympathy for his whole foot saga anyway, except to hand him a bottle (of warm milk).

sooz,
“Grew up” with rugby? Sounds like a circumlocution to avoid admitting you never played it seriously. Watching someone on television getting his nose broken in competition doesn’t make you hard.
Being prudent about injuries isn’t sissy, it’s just smart.

It struck me last time round in 2002 when beckham broke his foot and everybody learned the name of the bone the “metatarsal”. This would be a great way to teach kids if we broke every bone in his body, one at a time, we would learn the name of every single one!

it seems to me that this was just one BIG lie started by ManU and SAF. Well, anyway..Rooney is back and MAN did the English need him or what!!?
The entire team looks so different with him on the field.
