Terry: ‘Lay off Hargreaves’
John Terry, the rock of the back line, is insisting that English fans had it all wrong when they booed Owen Hargreaves upon seeing him enter the match on Saturday.
Much as I esteem Mr. Terry, I’d like to point out that he was 1) Hargreaves substituted for the only vital English player of the day, Joe Cole, and 2) his entry into the match signalled that Sven was digging a trench around his one-goal lead.
I would’ve booed too if I had been there.

Owen Hargreaves was being also being booed by most Canadians. If a Canadian Hockey Player left Canada to play for another country we would have strung him up.
Oh well, since most Canadians don’t follow Soccer(European football)it doesn’t matter as much; but, it still doesn’t change the fact that he is a traitor and that he has let his own country down.
Lennox Lewis did the same thing after he was trained in Canada and won the gold for Canada as a boxer in the Olympics.
From a Canadian perspective it is pretty sad that these two characters have no more Canadian pride than that…

Owen Hargreave is undoubtedly a great rising star that has proved himself playing for both Bayern Munich and the England world cup squad. He has shown resilience, unfaltered energy and strength on the football fiels and is a keen charity worked. He is a true professional and has done England proud. It is great to see him in interviews, a true professional and has a wonderful mix of Canadian, German and British in his accent. He is wonderful. A great footballer, very handsome and certainly engaging to watch at any time. I wish you every success Hargreaves and i must say your girlfriend Janelle is a true beauty and unlike the WAGS (she is in a class of her own) and I wish you two every success also. People say that if he was a Canadian hockey player he would be strung up…. fact is if he was a hockey player in england who was good enough to play hockey for Canada he would. When was the last time you saw the English hockey team in any tournaments… about the same amount youve seen the Canadian football team in the world cup..never! pretty easy choice if you ask me.

ummm, Canada has been in the world cup, in 1986 (we lost every game, but whatever:D). Why is he getting booed for something that happened years ago? He actually wanted to play for Canada, but he was shut out because he ‘wasn’t good enough’. I don’t blame him for leaving, the CSA treated him like s***.
