Sven on Walcott: ‘Never Seen ‘Im’

Sven admits that he has chosen to his squad a 17 year-old whom he’s never seen play in a match in Theo Walcott: “I’ve seen him perhaps three times in training….I saw him play 11 against 11 on a half pitch.”

Um… Fuck?

Darren Bent and Shaun Wright-Phillips aren’t available to us in Germany because Sven liked the looks of a kid in a practice match?

I thought Sven fancied your run-of-the-mill slappers and Arsene was the one who went all sweet on slim, young, dark-haired boys. But I guess the randy old Swede’s broadened his views….

Seriously. This is strange. I can’t imagine that we’ll see this kid — but I couldn’t have imagined that he’d be in the squad, either….
