Don't mean to sound cliche but it's always a good 'omen' for a team when they win even though they played poorly. Also, England would have most likely won Euro 2004 if Rooney wasn't injured, so who's to say England's talisman can't inspire Lampard, J Cole, and Gerrard to higher levels fit or not?

Phil McNulty must be in dreamland back to 1966. He considers that, for England, only Brazil will pose a massive danger. Oh,yeah! No consideration for other nations, just Brazil. Then, again in dreamland, he claims "many pointers suggest England can be just as potent". Not if England continues to play in the manner it played against Paraguay. He is almost suggesting that if Brazil wasn't in Germany, the cup was there for England and only England. His statement that "Saturday's opener against Paraguay suggests that Sven-Goran Eriksson's England will never have a better chance to bring the World Cup home" must be a Monty Python joke.
