SolGate: Not as Bad as Rumored, But Not Good

February 4th, 2006 | By: Shawn | 1 Comment »

So it turns out that the explosive story is that Sol has been seeing a faith healer to treat depression brought on by his complex love life. (Funny, I didn’t know he was still so close to Glenn Hoddle….)

This revelation comes a few days after a breakdown during which he told his teammates at Highbury that he was “through with football.”

This is hardly good news, but it’s a darned sight better than what had been rumored (and let’s just leave that as is).

If Sol can’t get it together for the Cup, that still leaves John Terry, Jamie Carragher, Rio Ferdinand and — dare we say it???? — Wes Brown to fill the slots at center back.

Thank goodness we have solid goalkeeping as a final line of defense, eh?

I see Terry and Ferdinand starting with Carragher and King coming off the bench. Wes Brown will be watching from home.
