If you ask anyone in the world, who’s the toughest English defender around, the answer is Sol Campbell. He’s the rock at the heart of the defense. I think he is trying to be modest here. The other two he mentioned aree ok players when playing with mediocre opponents, but when it comes to world class opponents in a tournament like the world cup, there’s no match for Sol. Lets not fool ourselves, that defense is worthless without Sol.

Well, I ahve to agree with you on that. Even though I don’t like the English team, I must admit the man is a rock in defence. They better play he’s fit and in form when the tournament starts.

Well, I’m somebody in the world and I disagree vehemently with the both of you. For about three seasons now Terry has *easily* been the best center back in England, not only in terms of game play and pluck but in terms of fitness and, yes, emotional and mental stability. Sol was definitely #1 at one point, and Rio Ferdinand was as well, but nobody who follows the EPL dilligently can claim that today either of them is at Terry’s level. And, frankly, I’m not sure if Jamie Carragher hasn’t leaped ahead of Sol as well. Fact is, Sol has gone soft in the body and, especially, the head, and his game is a shell of what it used to be. I wish it were otherwise, for one month at least, but he’s sunk in the rotation for a series of very good reasons.

England is my favorite team, i think everyone in this team is excellent! In my opinion, Terry is now better than Sol, and he is one of the most best defender in the world.

Sol is the best english defender easilly , i think its bang out of order that Terry and Ferdinand are now ahead of him in the pecking order.
