Rooney has just broken his metatarsal for the 2nd time [first time he did it in Euro 2004] and Owen broke his on New Years Eve. David Beckham and Gary Neville both broke theirs before the 2002 world cup but Beckham managed to play despite not being fully fit. Steven Gerrard has also suffered the same injury in the past.
This injury seems only to affect English players and only over the past 5 years. I do not recall anyone having a similar injury in the late eighties or early nineties. My theory is that all these englishmen are 30 or below and would have attended school after Maggie Thatcher withdrew the free milk for school children in the seventies as Secretary of state and education. Therefore Maggie may have cost the country World cup glory in 2006.

That’s some top notch logic. Seems reasonable to me.
