Rooney Waiting Game

May 18th, 2006 | By: Shawn | 4 Comments »

So Wayne Rooney gets his foot scanned next on May 25, Ascension Day, which is something of a teasing joke. That same night, the ‘B’ squad plays a friendly against Belarus in Reading, which ought to be of especially interest given the unlikelihood of Rooney’s recovery. After that, Sven has about 20 days and two friendlies to reorganize his front lines.

Suddenly it’s all crunch time!

u seem pretty sure he won’t be fit. I personally thought he would be fit for the quarters, but the times is saying that the manboy himself reckons he’ll be able to play in the sweden match. Maybe the last 25 mins in my opinion. He had 10 weeks to come back last time… i think it’s likely he will be there… and I am also sure that owen is 100%

surely many of us wanted to see how good will Rooney actually be especially when he become the major player said to maintain England’s hope to become the world champion again.
However, let’s not put all hope on a single player no matter how good he is, it is the team work that count. I personally feel that England should focus more on midfield area, play maker like Lampard and Gerrard will be the key.

I may just be looking on the bright side here but Rooneys’ injury may be a blessing in disguise. Expectations are slightly lower which might help the squad and something had to be done about where to pkay Gerrard. There’s noises about moving him up to a forward poition and putting Carrick or Hargreaves in a holding role, a move which will benefit Lampard as well. Of course I want to see Wayne in the World Cup. Who doesn’t? But one door closes another opens up.
