Rooney: The Whispers

May 28th, 2006 | By: Shawn | 1 Comment »

According to The Mail, “Sources close to Rooney claim the media and public interest in his metatarsal injury is beginning to affect the England striker and have warned the FA not to put him under undue pressure.”

So lemme get this straight: we shouldn’t talk about Wayne Rooney’s injury because it makes him feel bad, and the way we learn this is publication in a national newspaper?

Thanks for clearing matters up, then, Mister Mail Sports Editor!

I dont even know why england fans are worrying over rooney for. They’ve got more than enough to qualify out of the group, and a second round game they should surely win.

To be blunt you havn’t got a worthwhile game until the quarters by which time Rooney will be back. Sweden is the only team that will cause you problems but you should be sitting on 6 points by then.

The idea of Gerrard as a support striker is excellent and Rooney won’t be missed until the quarters when the serious competition comes in.
