Redknapp: ‘Theo’s Not The Real Thing’

June 15th, 2006 | By: Shawn | 6 Comments »

Amazing interview with Harry Redknapp, who was Theo Walcott’s boss at Southhampton: “At Saints I watched him in FA Youth Cup ties against Ipswich and Wolves and each time he drifted to the flanks he was marked out of the game.”

And that’s some of the nicer stuff.

Blistering.

So there it was, you could smell it in the air, the goals were primed and ready; they just hadn’t found their man. But this is still not the England we were promised, not the England that can face down a side even marginally stronger than lowly Trinidad & Tobago. For this world cup “favorite” to play so desperately against a team that normally could barely keep its head above the Atlantic says little about England’s quality, and plenty about its doubtful future. Rooney all you want: the team as a whole, these last few minutes aside, is playing as if on crutches. Maybe this’ll give them reason to live up to their promise. I don’t think they will.

I think this entry is kinda pointless (and sniping) to be honest.

Total Football: your reply also has an air of bitchiness about it as well. Teams in these competitions find their feet prove themselves over the course of several matches, stop trying so desperately to write England off so quickly…

D, I’m with you mate. Yes, Sven is a dick for getting such a fatty-on over Walcott, but this is our squad so let’s stop all the negative BS and support the boys 100%.

I”m A Scot by birth and would give my right leg just for the fun of hopping down to the Pub to watch our boys try (and most probably fail) to reach the next round. I completely agree with both the last posters. Get behind your team, roar them on and don’t give a stuff what any whingers say.
