Owen: ‘At Least We Didn’t Cheat’

June 11th, 2006 | By: Shawn | 9 Comments »

Here’s a bright side of England’s ugly win over Paraguay I hadn’t considered: Michael Owen says, “I think as a nation we are very honest, we try to win the right way.”

Well, bully for us, Lil’ Mick!

I agree: FIFA should award us an extra point in the group — or at least a tie-breaker — because none of our lads robbed a bank during the match!

I’m trying to find the names of the England Team members. It doesn’t seem to be in any north american media. Can you help with this?

Owen’s statement: “We are very honest as a nation. We try to win right way”. I agree that England plays “honestly”, but then this infers that some nations must play dishonestly. Name them, Michael, don’t be shy. Don’t place England high on a pedestal. Playing honestly is not only achieved on the pitch, it is also off the ptich, so the excuse that the heat got to many of the players in the game against Paraguay - and England won - is leaning a bit toward the dishonest, don’t you think, Michael?

Michael is probably referring the the “simulation” against Argentina last time which lead to the winning penalty.

Exactly Frank a Geoff Hurst hatrick against Germany will be good! There has been too much fuss made about the third goal being on the line or not… who cares as the fourth goal made the third irrelevant. With or without it England would of won either 3-2 or 4-2!

That´s right but we all know that the rest of the match would have been different without the third goal and we all know that this was no goal.

But given the fact that this is the only englsih victory in the long and bright history of football and fourty years of hurts are really enough for a nation like england.

But if i think about that perhabs the old guys can agree on a penalty shooting.

The real question is — can England win the world cup without Owen? http://www.121s.com/viewtopic.php?t=9212
