More on Walcott — and Rooney

June 12th, 2006 | By: Shawn | 7 Comments »

According to this report, Theo Walcott will be fine, and we may see Wayne Rooney as early as Thursday.

The cover of the latest “When Saturday Comes,” by the way, shows Michael Owen and Walcott in training. Owen says “What are you doing here?” and Walcott responds, “Waiting for you to get injured.”

As Al Capone says in David Mamet’s script for “The Untouchables,” “Like many things in life, we laugh because it’s funny and we laugh because it’s true”…..

I am not a great follower of football, but I think if England have any chance of progressing in this World Cup they need to maintain their concentration not just for 45 minutes, but 90 mins, that is the only realistic option. Also, Swen needs to stick to his experienced players like Michael Owen, etc, and give them the full run of the game.
I know it is hot out there, but it’s hot for everyone. So, come on England lets get going….

I think England struggled on the game against paraguay.if they want to win the world cup they have to play very good and to their best because paraguay is not the strongest team in the tournament

england MUST keep joe cole in the team, coz there’s no other real playmaker in england with exceptional dribbling skill and composure through the penalty area and score. Italy with Totti or cassano, Brazil with ronaldinho or kaka, Netherland with Robben, argentina with messi tevez, portugal with cristianoronaldo/figo.

gerrard and lampard and beckham both lack speed and dribbling agility. they just blast it from long range. that’s why they need joe cole and rooney.

kalista,
i agree on that joe cole fact.but ur quite wrong about gerrard.
honestly,if ur not a RED then maybe that explains why.. let me quote what Daily Mirror of the UK press have said about him

“Another top performance. All-action, disciplined display. Harshly booked for his tackle on Riveros by the incompetent referee.”

if that’s not enough than u should see tha FA CUP final ..the lad’s got it all..it’s just a matter of time before he attempt another screamer for the english team.=)
