Is Rooney England’s Best Big-Time Player?

February 28th, 2006 | By: Shawn | 2 Comments »

Kevin McCarra argues that he is, and that it bodes well for his performance in Germany. When I think of Rooney’s performances in his ManUre debut, at Euro 2004 and in this weekend’s Carling Cup, I can see his point.

Hi Shawn-

I think that’s right. Hard to believe–20 years old, around 30 caps already. Amazing. Assuming he’s fit (see: Euro 2004) and under control (see: many instances) he is the key to winning big matches this summer.

I agree. He’s got the big game talent but he’s also got (like Beckham in his early days) the big game over-exuberance! If he can keep that in check – which he says he’s been working on – who knows what he’ll achieve this summer. Fingers crossed. More of my views at http://www.football-world-cup.org.uk
