Heroic performance lads and one us Brits should be proud of.

We were without doubt the better team overall and showed a true grit and spirit that has not been seen in this WC after going down to 10 men.

Portugal lacked any real venom and even with the extra man resorted to playing for penalties , sad but true.

Anyway we will be back and with some of the young guys like Lennon coming through the future is bright.

Oh and of course Congrats to Portugal for winning the lottery bit, you were outstanding from 12 yards guys.

Shame… England should and could have done much better with the players they have, but in 480 minutes they have played in this world cup they never looked like a team.

For a team tiped to be favourite 2nd only to Brazil to win this WC… it was very poor to play like they did in their 5 games.

Definitely, England didnt deserve to be on the last 4(neither did Portugal i should say).

good luck in 2010

Did I see Rio Ferdinand crying after the match? Probably he shouldn’t feel so bad. Without him, or any of the English defenders, their team wouldn’t have been here.
Blame the loss on Gerrard and Lampard.

As for Rooney`s red card…
He stud on a portugese player`s balls, and if you watch carefully the replay you`ll realize it was intentional. You dont have to chop them off to deserve a red card.

The referee was 1st class.. he didnt fall for Ronaldo and Figo`s diving. I think he should referee the Final.

what’s going on with the people from Canada who don’t even have a football team , nor even know what football is , as far as I ‘m concerned . This is the second time I’ve read such irrespectful comments about the football players who did give their hearts and much more on the pitch. Yesterday I found such silly comments about the argentinian’s footballers haircuts, today critizising Crouch!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can’t believe it really and it pisses me off. Why don’t you start learning from these two great football teams, who may have just had bad luck this time, and how can you be such low, shallow and broad minded to criticize people’s appearences in the 21st ct. Come on, humanity should have grown up so as not to care about such things, we are all diferent and not accepting diferences is what causes and has caused wars and problems within people. Going back to football matters I feel so sorry that england is back home, I think they are a great team.

Congratulations to England for such a hard fought game. You showed a lot of class in your attitude and determination. You guys are still winners in my book. Maybe when you replace Sven you guys will make it farther.

Very respectable.

Ingerland… yet another hard luck story!

The truth is this:

1. England never really performed against quality sides. Sure, England can beat Hungary, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Paraguay and Ecuador, but were they really convincing?

2. The most overhyped players were truly disappointing – Rooney (Goals: ZERO, Red Card: One is more than enough), Lampard (can score for Chelsea but not for England), Gerrard (great goal against T&T but is that enough?), Crouch (just don’t get me started) etc.

3. Rooney is an ass. But that we already know.

4. Eriksson is clueless.

5. Beckham – good freekicks and crosses. At least he’ll go home to silicone Queen Victoria.

6. There are at least a dozen teams better than England.

7. Penalties. England’s perpetual blind spot gets ever blinder.

So its time for England to campaign to host a future World Cup. That seems to be the only way they can ever hope to win!

Gutted!

Well done Portugal and thanks for what was an intense 58 minutes.

I haven’t bothered to read the posts, as I’m sure that the detritus, pond life from around the world have already been in here to gloat and abuse.

Firstly, the game wasn’t won by Portugal, it was partially given to them by Rooney; secondly, the game was saved by Ricardo. All of Englands penalties were on target for a change, and the woodwork played its part. Two Portugal spot kicks missed; and lastly, I’m not going to blame the referee, though he did make a few inspired decisions that went for, and against England.

What can I say about the 62nd minute onwards. Exciting, intoxicating, exhilarating, thrilling, dramatic, rousing, moving, enthralling, electrifying, breathtaking, sensational, inspiring, nail-biting, action-packed. Pity the boys couldn’t find the back of the net. 58 minutes, one man down, and Portugal couldn’t break down our defence.

So world! Gloat if that’s how you need to get your thrills. I’m proud of the boys and the way that they played.

2010 ….

Well done Portugal. You have won. But without honour.

England should be proud and so should the fans.

Look at the hatred against England who just played fair and tried hard.

A day without honour…..which is of course the reason we are hated by other fans, its not like looking into a mirror at all is it. There is only one England ans we make you see what you are.

It MUST be time for new refereeing systems. It is certainly tiem for a detailed analysis of decisions to detect any bias. Let the scientific study results be published, by honest old FIFA

Maybe the Italians can do the investigation?

No they shouldn’t have won. No offense I think England’s a great team but beating ‘inferior’ South Americans like Paraguay and Ecuador (grande Ecuador!) 1-0 is not good enough to advance to the semi-finals. Sorry, but that’s the way it is.

Overall, I think Crouch is a good player and a great asset to the team. He was the one who led the charge, besides Joe Cole.

ha ha the Americans and Canadians calling us arrogant. learn what football is before coming to the world cup next time please. any other group any you would have got slaughtered every time.
the true sign of a good team is knowing how to lose well. we deserved to win but Portugal were unlucky not to have deco there. why is it seem to only be the Europeans who don’t have the need to laugh at teams even when they play well and lose. try watching the game and not just the results.

oh and were is the Canadian team i wonder…..thought so

Let’s face it, England did not impress in this tournament, so why are you so gutted about? Losing on penalties is unfair but I think that the team was as ever overrated by the media that should learn the lesson they never will…maybe one day you will play a game without having to read about how strong and good you are long before the match has started! Good play by England but sadly not good enough! Until next time….

I think England should be very proud of the team but yea Frank Lampard has had a shocking worldcup no offence. England have a great team but a sh*t manager. Its a shame the FA can’t get their act together. Owse England may have been holding the cup on July 9, now they will have to wait another 4 years and guys like Beckham, Carragher n co will prob never win a wc. Ericcson is sh*t, should’ve fired him when England lost 3-0 to Australia.
