Friendly Thoughts

I was impressed by the resilliency Sven’s Men showed in the second half. Down 1-0, playing without several key elements, a young team pressed and pressed and created two fine goals despite all the fouls and gamesmanship being thrown at them.

Man of the Match: Joe Cole, an assist and a goal and frustrated Uruguay into at least two yellows — as well as who can say how many free kicks

Also fine: Wright-Phillips, Crouch, Neville, Terry, Rooney, Carrick

Ok: Gerrard, Carragher, Robinson, Jenas, Beckham

The Jury is Still Out: Bent, King (unless it was he who delivered the ball that Cole crossed to Crouch)

No real impression: Bridge (injured again!), Defoe

Bad: Ferdinand
