I don’t have the literal or figurative bandwith to LiveBlog today’s match, but I’ll be watching it on TIVO and posting my reactions later. Feel free to use this space for your own observations until then.

[...] England 3 – Hungary 1 John Terry and Steven Gerrard scored off of set pieces from David Beckham, and Peter Crouch spun and delivered a goal to give England a win at Old Trafford. Crouch showed that white men in fact can dance by showing off his robot skills in his celebration. Picture a blade of grass blowing in the wind and you get the idea. Overall, England played a decent enough game, although Hungary had a few more chances on goal than Sven and gang would probably have liked. [...]

I know we won 3-1 tonight but if we play like that in the world cup we wont even make the quarter-finals.

Two set piece goals and a last minute fluke by Crouch coupled with a Gerrard dive and subsequent Lampard miss does not instill me with any confidence whatsoever!

You would have expected us to dominate the Hungarian minnows and play them off the park. I mean, magical Magyars they’re not but at times they were the ones playing proper football while we stretched and huffed and puffed.

And as for that over-paid swedish pimp. WTF! We’re not gonna win FCUK-ALL with him in charge.

Am I the only person in this world that thinks that?

I hate Gerrard so fukin much. He is the worst type of player, just watching that little sissy play sickens me. He scores a few fluky goals and people think hes the best. That dive says it all.
He ruins everything, down with Gerrard!!

wow - bunch of england haters here! I thought they played pretty well. Backham showed why he still makes the team - so what about the penalty - the defender went in with two feet in the air and missed the ball - ok so he barely touched Gerrard either but if you watch the reply carefully he DID touch him. And the keeper saved the penalty anyway.

Hungary had two good chances - Hargreaves should have stopped the first one - the goal - I thought he played himself off the team there - but all credit that was a fantastic shot. The second one was well saved. Everything else missed. Hungary played extremely solid defence - so 3 goals is great. DIdn’t see Crouch score but reports are that it was a sweet volley so get off his case.

I’m not a Gerrard fan either but his headed goal was excellent - you can see that he placed it precisely. And Beckham’s free kicks were superb. I’m not even certain that Terry touched that one - looked like it went in off the keeper straight from the kick - but it was hard to see - Teryy can have it for all I care.

When England decided to play (from about the 40th minute) they looked very good. There were ten minute periods where the ball was at the Hungary end the whole time.

Gerrard is a gun! How can a Pom bag him? Did you happen to catch the Champions League final last year, or the FA Cup final this year? Tell me Gerrard isn’t a f@#$ing legend. Next you are gonna tell me you follow Man U…

how are england fans slagging off stevie gerrard!? with three world class midfielders, joey cole (who isn’t half bad either)and, assuming rooney is fit, 2 world class strikers, england have a real chance. thats not taking into account the two world class centre backs, the best left back in the world and a world class keeper…. btw, you only have to look at gerrard against Olympiakos last year, or West Ham this year in the FA cup to see how he can take an entire team on his shoulders, definite England captaincy material after beck’s, him or John Terry.

what the hell?? Steven Gerrard is a world class player. Although he didn’t play his best, he was an amazing asset to the England team.
Beckham & J Cole played brilliantly too
