Didn’t Get a Ticket? You Might Still Get to Germany

For all the thousands of Engalnd supporters who will pack into caravans and head to Germany in June, there are millions who can’t make it.

In person, at least.

An ingenious (and slightly spiteful) artist will create a giant flag of the classic image from Wembley, 1966 — Bobby Moore being carried off the pitch with the Jules Rimet cup held aloft — out of photographs of millions of England fans. He intends to display it in German stadiums when England plays (that’s the spiteful bit).

The clever fellow is also a bit deluded, but only a tad: “It will be great if we could do another one with Beckham holding the cup, and call it ‘United We Stand’, but that’s mindless optimism,” he tells the BBC.
