Another Tough-Talkin’ Paraguayan

June 9th, 2006 | By: Shawn | 10 Comments »

This time it’s the captain: “I think Sweden are our most difficult opponents. England have some good individuals but I haven’t seen them click together when they play for the national team.”

They’ve got some cheek, I’ll grant that.

Paraguay are turning out to be one of the most entertainnig teams, pre-Cup.

They’re not afraid to leave the script, unlike most.

ENG-PAR is definitively a no miss match for any neutral viewer. Paraguay strongest point is the air game (if that is the correct term in english, I’m not sure), and is the team in south america that look like the most to england. They are tough, and for example, for the last few years argentina sistematically has real problems each time they face them.

Thats right Keyser… Chilavert was one of the players that knew how to really heat up the things before each match.

I think that Gamarra took his place as the outspoken of the group in his role of Captain of the team.

I think a better tactic from Paragay would have been to stay low key and surprise us on the pitch. England likes nothing better than a hyped up game.

Paraguay struggle against the high ball, this was proved in a friendly in Scandanavia. I think Crouch will terrorise them and England will win 2-0.

Apparently they’ve been working on the high ball scenario in training with a Paraguayan attacker on stilts to represent Crouchy.

England is ripe for a surprise. Some good individual players - and not beckham, big time overated. They always find a way to dissapoint. Between them and the Spaniards they have monopolize the choking experience in World Cups. I am just glad that I am not Engligh nor Spanish every for years. Jogo bonito Brasil!
